RmBridge Main Menu

The RmBridge start screen consists of the main menu bar at the top-most edge, the navigation window with the navigation tree, and 2 graphic windows for graphic presentation of the current calculation model. The main graphic window is overlapped throughout the input session by the various input and protocol pads of the sub-functions of the GUI. For details on the graphical presentation see Menu > View .

The input menus  in the main menu bar are more or less synchronous with the respective main  functions in the navigation tree. Only the menus File and View have no corresponding item in the navigation tree. On the other hand, the Navigation tree offers an additional configuration menu for defining the arrangement of the pads on the screen and for specifying the  calculation units to be used in the GUI. The menus in the main menu bar have only 2 levels. Subordinate menus can only be selected in the navigation tree.

SettingDescription
Menu > File This menu provides functions for project administration and file operations. There is no corresponding function in the navigation tree. For details see Menu > File .
Menu > Bridge Wizards This menu offers different pre-processors for automatically generating the mathematical model of different types of standardized bridges. For details see "men4950".
Menu > Modeler On selecting "Open Modeler" the program switches to the Modeler level for graphic definition of axes, segments, cross-sections etc. The Modeler is an internal geometric preprocessor (formerly called GP) for structure geometry definition. If the program is in the "Modeler" mode, the main graphic window of RmBridge is replaced by the input window of the Modeler. Data entered in the "Modeler" mode are related to pure geometry definition and database, and do not directly affect the central RmBridge  database. The actual RmBridge calculation model is created in the Database by the respective sub function Create RmBridge Model.  (For details see Modeler internal Help System).
Menu > View This menu provides functions for governing the graphic presentation of the model on the graphic  screen. The data are always related to the calculation model on main RmBridge level.  The graphic presentation of segments and cross-sections on the Modeler level is not concerned. For details see Menu > View .
Menu > Properties This menu serves for defining different physical and administrative properties of the structure. These are for instance groups, attribute sets, material parameters, cross-sections,  Aero classes, variables and RM-Sets. For details see Menu > Properties .
Menu > Structure Definition and management of basic structural parameters. These are node data, data of structural elements and data of prestressing tendons. In addition it is used for management of "Bodies" (these are groups of Finite Elements in FEM analysis), and of segmentation definition of incrementally launched bridges. Details see Menu > Structure .
Menu > Schedule This menu allows for managing loading data and data related to the construction sequence. The subfunctions are: Load Definition, Stages, Additional Constraints, Schedule Variants and Simulation Analysis. For details see Menu > Schedule .
Menu > Extras This menu contains different special additional functions. These are for instance: Additional modules for special analysis features (e.g. rolling stock analysis), preprocessors and macros for generating extensive input sequences, templates for standardized sequences (e.g. in accordance with a certain design code), creating special output documents, interfaces to detailing software (Rebar) or functions for drawing production and management (RM Draw Manager)

For details see List of special commands .

Menu > Results Menu for presenting analysis results on the screen and creating result graphics.  Sub-functions are:
  • Load Case results (deformations, internal forces, longitudinal stresses)
  • Envelope results (deformations, internal forces, longitudinal stresses)
  • Influence lines (graphic presentation with relevant load train position)
  • Plots (creating graphics of different types presenting result values)

Calculation protocol (viewing the log file of the previous analysis run)

For details see Menu > Results .

Menu > Help? Menu for selecting additional online text documents (user guide etc.)
Recalc The Recalc button in the line above the main graphics window is used to start the analysis  for the selected schedule variant displayed on the right side of the button. A submenu is displayed on pressing the button, allowing for defining the governing parameters  for the analysis, such as type and coverage of the analysis, calculation methods and  global calculation parameters as defined in detail in Recalculate .
